Things need to know before departure

The journey begins from Pokhara, followed by a jeep drive to Ghachok. The road is partly blacktopped and partly off-road, so the ride can be dusty or bumpy depending on the season. Starting early helps you avoid strong afternoon sun and gives you enough time to walk comfortably. The drive itself offers beautiful views of hills, rivers, and farmland, making it a pleasant beginning to the trek.

The trail gradually climbs to Khumai Danda at around 3,245 meters and further to Korchan Danda at about 3,700 meters. While the altitude is not extremely high, some people may feel slight tiredness, headache, or shortness of breath. Walking slowly, staying hydrated, and avoiding rushing help your body adjust naturally. Getting proper sleep and eating warm food also helps maintain energy during the trek.

The weather in the mountains can change very quickly. Even if the day starts sunny, clouds, wind, or fog can appear later. Nights and early mornings are especially cold at higher elevations. Carrying warm clothes like jackets, gloves, and a cap is very important. A raincoat or poncho is also helpful, especially in spring and monsoon, when short rain showers can happen suddenly.

Since this is a newly popular trekking route, facilities are simple. Tea houses provide basic rooms, local food, and warm hospitality, but you should not expect luxury services. Electricity may be limited, and charging phones can sometimes cost extra. Wi-Fi is not always available. Carrying a power bank, torch light, and some extra cash is a smart idea to stay comfortable throughout the journey.

One of the best parts of this trek is its peaceful environment. The trail passes through green forests, open hills, and quiet ridges where you can truly feel connected to nature. You will hear birds, wind, and natural sounds rather than crowds. It is a perfect trek for people who want to relax, refresh their minds, and enjoy the beauty of the Himalayas in a calm setting.

During the trek, you will pass through small villages where people live simple lives based on farming and animal care. The lifestyle is traditional and closely connected to nature. Greeting locals politely, respecting their culture, and supporting local tea houses make your experience more meaningful. You may also get the chance to try homemade local food and learn about their daily routines.

On average, you will walk about 4–6 hours each day. Some sections are steep, especially while going up to Khumai Dada, so it is important to walk slowly and take small breaks. The trail includes forest paths, narrow ridges, and open hillsides. Wearing good trekking shoes helps maintain balance and comfort while walking.

The clearest views usually appear in the early morning and evening. The sunrise hike to Korchan Danda is one of the most special moments of the trek. During this time, you can see stunning golden views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, and Himchuli. Planning to wake up early and carrying a flashlight for the morning hike is very helpful.

Even though it is a short trek, preparing your body before the journey makes it much easier. Simple exercises like walking, climbing stairs, or doing short hikes can improve your stamina. Strong legs and steady breathing help you enjoy the walk without getting too tired. The trek is suitable for beginners, but basic fitness makes the experience more comfortable.

Packing only necessary items will make walking easier. Important things to carry include trekking shoes, warm clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a water bottle, snacks, and personal medicines. Since there are limited shops in higher areas, it is better to prepare everything in Pokhara before starting the trek.

Mobile network is available in some lower villages, but becomes weak or unavailable at higher points. Informing family or friends before starting the trek is a good idea. Enjoy this time as a break from busy city life and spend more time connecting with nature instead of phones.

This area is still very clean and natural. Trekkers should avoid throwing plastic, bottles, or waste along the trail. Carry your trash back to the lower areas and respect the environment. Protecting nature helps keep the trekking route beautiful for future visitors and supports local communities that depend on tourism.
